Chinese Medicine physician James Liu will use an acupuncture point that had proved to cure or lessen the symptoms of hay fever, rhinitis and sinusitis for some.
Dr Liu went to China in 2012, 2013 and in May to learn the technique from its inventor, ear, nose and throat surgeon Professor Xinwu Li.
He said Professor Li’s published papers showed 70 per cent of rhinitis and sinusitis could be cured using the technique while 30 per cent of hay fever could be cured by one treatment.
“I use the Xinwu point combined with traditional acupuncture points and Chinese herbs to treat most nasal, sinus and throat problems, which function to boost the immune system,” RMIT lecturer Dr Liu said.
“The success rate is even higher than with the single Xinwu point.”
The trial occurs on October 3, 10, 17 and 24 at Wodonga Chinese Medicine Clinic in Huon Street.
