North East divisional traffic adviser Senior Sergeant Darren Wittingslow said there would be a high volume of traffic on roads starting Friday night.
There will also be increased numbers of children riding bikes, he said.
“Kids will be out and about so it would be good if people could be on the lookout around the towns,” Senior Sergeant Wittingslow said.
"The roads will be a lot busier.”
