That’s the opinion of coach James Saker, who said the team that beat Yarrawonga in Sunday’s preliminary final at the John Flower Oval, wasn’t locked in for the grand final.
Ruckman Jamarl O’Sullivan and defender Kade Garland were unlucky to miss out, with Tom Yensch and Jonathon Spina their replacements.
Saker said the Panthers weren’t afraid to make the hard calls as the club searches for its first flag since its 2005 win over Myrtleford.
“Jamarl got changed in the ruck with Yenschy, and Kade Garland missed out to try and give us a bit better match-up coverage in the back six,” Saker said.
“We picked a side that we thought was right for the opponent, and we’ll go about doing the same for next week.
“We’ve got to address how we think Albury will look and then pick a team we think will deliver.”
