The council will rent 135 High Street, opposite Coles supermarket, for a fortnight from October 21.
Wodonga councillor Anna Speedie said the city was keen to get feedback from traders and citizens on the CBD works which have received $10 million in Federal Government funding.
"We wanted to come right to the heart of town and actually provide as much information as we could," Cr Speedie said.
The works include landscaping on High Street, an extension of Havelock Street, the development of Richardson Park and The Promenade at Junction Place and work on South Street, between High and Smythe streets.
The first phase is not due to begin until July 2017, but Cr Speedie said the council was determined to be consultative.
"These are expensive works, a lot of it we won't even see, it will be under the ground, but it's intergenerational infrastructure so it takes the drainage system forward etcetera,” Cr Speedie said.
"So we will continue talking, we'll continue to work with all the traders, but we wanted to start now, so as we develop the plans people's input is actually included and respected."
Council chief executive Patience Harrington said over the four years of the project, the council would regularly rent CBD premises to update the community.
Cr Speedie said the shopfront would be complemented by alternative contact.
"There are other ways, go on to our website, call a councillor, you can do any of those things in terms of giving some feedback," Cr Speedie said.
Wodonga Chamber of Commerce business manager Bernie Squire labelled the shopfront a "fantastic idea".
"It will allow the traders to identify some issues and some solutions," he said.
Mr Squire said having the works begin in 2017 should allow for some "clean air" for traders after the High Street makeover of 2014.
Sydney small business author Linda Hailey will visit Wodonga on October 21 to offer advice to traders about developing or streamlining their enterprise.
