With all the editorialising on the matter, it’s often easy to forget that the young lady at the centre of it all may lose her ability to practise as a lawyer, her livelihood and all the years of study brought to naught.
However, fraud is a serious allegation, especially to members of a profession that is necessarily based on the highest virtues of trust, honesty and integrity.
Equally though, it is wrong that some have brought into question the independence of the Australian Electoral Commission and the Australian Federal Police.
By all means, challenge our elected representatives, that’s what they’re there for.
Our great robust democratic tradition requires it. But public service employees are duty bound to execute the law, without fear or favour.
The investigation into alleged electoral fraud following the 2013 election was not political, it was a matter of law.
Sometimes, it may be sad to see the outcome of an investigation like this and the impact it may have on a personal level. It would be sadder still if justice was not permitted to take its impartial, majestic course.

Comical feasibility process
Instead of making a decision into a new swimming centre, Albury Council has chosen to undertake a costly, protracted, consultation and feasibility process.
Reading the reports of how this is progressing makes it look like a perfect script for the next episode for ABC's Utopia.

Paramedics overworked
YOU report that ambulance paramedics are over worked, they certainly are and its getting worse not better.
Governments who are not the least interested in your health and who under fund hospitals and the ambulance service with gay abandon.
The NSW Ambulance Service needs several hundred more paramedics but instead choose to overwork the ones we have by getting them to work their days off and large amounts of overtime.
Add to this the incredible propensity governments have for wasting money and you see we are slipping towards third world standards of health care.

Heart of the city centre
THE war memorial in the Wodonga is an important landmark. To move it would take the heart out of the city.
This park is a beautiful aspect of Wodonga and the monument is an intrinsic of visual character of the place of peace and rest.
Graffiti mongers who consider themselves environmental improvement technicians deserve every encouragement to channel their artistic proclivities into a more productive enterprise. Preferably the walls of their own dwellings in jail.
What type of person would place purpose and worth on vandalising a site honouring the valiant dead?
The “hoodie” brigade that do their nocturnal territorial spraying against the society in which they live, strikes me as the height of disrespect and in ingratitude.
To call graffiti “art” is in itself a misnomer. A more fitting definition would be scourge.
Criminal acts against private and public property and landmarks should be clearly recognised as a crime.
The moving of a city landmark memorial because of a criminal element would place that city under the influences and hand of the same.
Where crime is allowed to rule, life and purpose become eroded . Protect the appreciate what is good, isn’t that what the war memorial stands for?
