The Civil Aviation Safety Authority said on Sunday that anyone who used a drone in such situations could end up $9000 out of pocket.
It said that was because the drones could pose a “real safety risk” on the fire ground.
The authority said regulations stated that drones “must not be operated in a way that creates a hazard to another aircraft, person or property”.
