The work will be done in conjunction with baiting in Gippsland.
The aim of the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning program is to reduce the impact of dogs on livestock and livestock producers.
“Aerial baiting provides an additional element to wild dog management, complementing on-ground measures such as baiting, trapping and exclusion fencing,” department wild dog engagement officer Barry Davies said.
“It’s one tool in the toolbox of techniques to reduce the impact of wild dogs on livestock enterprises and complements the current wild dog program with its suite of control measures.”
The baiting will be on public land at Burrowa, Bullhead and Wabba in the North East and in the Angora/Cobungra, Bindi and Wonangatta/Punchen Budweid areas in East Gippsland.
Four thousand fresh-meat baits will be laid along a 400 kilometre stretch.
