Father and son duo Gino and Mark Stocco were reportedly seen in different locations near Tarcutta and Kyeamba on Monday afternoon.
Police had concerns they were travelling from Holbrook towards Albury, which did not eventuate.
A major manhunt has been underway after they allegedly shot at police near Wagga on October 16.
Officers swarmed several roads near Tarcutta about 1pm on Monday after calls alerting them to a potential match.
The search was eventually scaled back after police failed to find the pair, and they remain on the run.
They have been travelling in a white Toyota Landcruiser stolen from a property at Little Billabong and are believed to be changing number plates.
There have been multiple sightings of the men at Euroa, Bairnsdale and St James since they allegedly shot at police.
The fugitives were most recently caught on security cameras at Gundagai, and have been filmed at other locations.
Police will charge the men with attempted murder once they catch them.
A large police contingent is active in Wangaratta.
The officers are on standby should the men return to Victoria.
Assistant commissioner Rick Nugent said the men, who were known to travel back and forth between the two states, were likely running low on money.
“We are still getting very good information from the public and we act on that information as soon as we get it,” he said.
“We do understand there was an unconfirmed sighting today at Tarcutta earlier (Monday).
“NSW Police will continue to investigate that and we will deploy our resources as needed around the Border and the North East of Victoria.
“As with any operation of this nature we continually asses our deployments and our operational plans and base that on the intelligence we receive.”
