The Dow’s Pharmacy building, constructed in 1859, needs repairs to brickwork and its roof.
National Trust of Victoria chief executive Martin Purslow visited the town on Wednesday.
He said it would cost about $100,000 to revamp the property, which closed in 1968.
“We don’t want to spoil the character of it,” he said.
“Walking into the pharmacy is like walking into a magical time capsule.”
The property has been left untouched since it closed and is still stocked with medication from the period.
The renovations, which will be funded by the estate of the late Patricia Rose, are expected to be finished mid-2015.
National Trust property co-ordinator Sue Hinrichs is looking for volunteers to help run the town's three heritage listed properties.
She can be contacted on 0418 597 000.
