Tony Murray told Michael John Holden, 24, that he could have easily blinded others at the event held near Byron Bay in July.
The case was decided on in Albury Local Court to save Holden having to travel to northern NSW.
“It’s a really serious matter,” Mr Murray told Holden, who faced two years’ jail.
Holden pleaded guilty and was put on a two-year bond, without conviction.
