The former Wangaratta woman was back in her home city from Melbourne on Monday when she picked up a stunning black dress that afternoon.
Inspired by former Miss Universe Jennifer Hawkins, she topped the outfit off with black, crown-style headwear.
"I just saw this and thought it was beautiful," she said.
"I've never entered anything like this before."

The best-dressed gent Connor Tait was also a fashions on the field first-timer, convinced to enter while drinking a beer nearby.
The popular winner from Wangaratta was looking dashing in a blue suit, vest and tie.
“It's blue for today, a bit of colour,” he said.
Eight-month-old baby Max Turner was also a popular winner of the under-12 boys event in a cute little suit.
Classic black and white was a theme through the womens’ and girls' categories.
The over-40s winner Chris Deakin pulled out what she called an “almost vintage” Carla Zampatti black and white dress and jacket.
“Good pieces never go out of fashion,” she said.
The VRC Flemington member is no stranger to spring racing, but said she enjoyed the less-frenetic Wangaratta event.
