Nyree Miller lived for 10 years with brain tumours and in her final days asked her family to donate a stand aid machine to the ward.
She died in July and on Thursday her husband Shane and sons Jacob, 14, and Samuel, 11, made good on their promise in a sad but memorable presentation.
Mr Miller said the device, dubbed “Steady Nyz”, gave his wife dignity.
“We are so amazed at the level of care, the love and compassion these nurses gave,” he said.
Palliative care nurse unit manager Linda Todhunter said for the Millers to think of others in that depth of sadness was remarkable.
