HE’S not a former AFL player and he won’t have any on-field impact, but the Roos couldn’t be happier after appointing Terry Burgess as non-playing coach.

Well-known for his work developing struggling clubs and promoting players from within, 53-year-old Burgess also brings an intimate knowledge of the region’s football landscape.
“It’s what we wanted - someone with experience from the area who can teach the younger players at the club,” president Graham Hosier said.
“He’s got great experience and can bring a lot to the club.
“His work with younger players really stood out and we’ve obviously got a young list.
“We’d like an assistant for him to mentor and take over when he’s finished.”
Burgess inherits a depleted list and the possibility the club won’t be able to field a reserves side.
“Hopefully we can field a reserves side, it’s not out of the question,” Hosier said.
The Roos started pre-season training last week.
