Debris covered the Cheshunt-Whitfield Road near Pizzini Wines when police arrived on scene after 8am Sunday.
I'm very surprised, the result could have been a lot worse.
- Patrick Murray
The car’s engine and wheel mount were ripped off and the alternator sat 10 metres away from the vehicle.
A Whitfield woman, 58, was travelling north in the red Honda Jazz when she reached a right-hand bend.
She hit gravel off the left side of the road and over corrected causing the car to go into a spin.
The car ricocheted off one tree then hit another before flipping onto its roof and sliding into a paddock.
The driver was taken to Wangaratta Hospital and released with minor injuries.
Wangaratta Highway Patrol Senior Constable Patrick Murray said police were investigating driver inattention and don't believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.
“I'm very surprised, the result could have been a lot worse,” he said.
“It doesn’t matter what time of day or night, drivers always need to be diligent.
“They need to pay attention to their surroundings.
“It only takes one second for someone to take their eyes off the road for me to have this discussion with their loved ones.”
