Independent film company Dark Epic Films will shoot scenes for its new movie The Comet Kids in the historic North East town.
The Comet Kids is a family adventure movie that evolves around a group of children in search of a piece of a comet that crashed to earth, focusing on Lucas, as a teenager and a retired 88-year-old.
“We’ve tried to schedule all the shooting during school holidays,” says writer and director Glenn Triggs.
“We will use Beechworth as the home town in the film, we’ll be filming all over Victoria, but the main scene will see the kids on their bikes riding down the main street of Beechworth.”
Triggs said he planned to recruit members of the Beechworth Old Cranks Motor Club to help transform Ford Street back to the 1950s, when most of the film is set, by using early classic cars and late vintage-era cars to line the road.
