Mr Kermond’s body was found by a cyclist about 40 kilometres from the hotel he had been staying at in Whistler on June 17.
The 19-year-old had been on a ski holiday and was last seen in the hotel lobby on April 26.
He was reported missing four days later after failing to check out, leading to an appeal for information.
Victorian homicide squad detectives travelled to Bright last week to take video statements from his parents and stepfather.
The statements will be given to Canadian officers.
Mr Kermond had lived in Harrietville his entire life.
He was an avid snow skier.
