A WODONGA man's drive to Queensland was dramatically cut short on Thursday morning when the interior of his car caught alight.

He had been driving a 2007 model Holden utility north on the Hume Highway with a Waeco refrigerator in the front seat.
The fridge caught alight at Albury and burnt plastic inside the cabin.
Albury firefighter John Vandeven said the driver had done the right thing by getting out of the vehicle and closing the door.
“That starved the fire of oxygen,” he said.
“From what we can tell the fridge hadn't been used for some time and had a short circuit.”
Mr Vandenven said it was important for people to provide clear and accurate information when calling Triple-0, including details of the nearest cross street.
