The Albury Council sign in the playground at Noreuil Park advised people a snake had previously been seen in that area and encouraged everyone to remain alert.
“Please do not attempt to catch,” the sign said.
On Friday Albury Council updated the snake advice on its website in response to an increase in snake notifications.
“Snakes are on the move and there has been a number of calls to council from residents who've sighted a snake in their yard,” the advice said.
The council does not handle snakes and recommends people contact a Border snake catcher to assist with their safe removal.
“If, however, the snake is in a high profile public park, such as Noreuil Park, Oddies Creek play space or the Albury Botanic Gardens, please call customer service on 6023 8111 or the after hours emergency number,” the council said.
