8am There has been no major change to Tim Levesque’s status overnight in Albury Hospital.
His family is expected to release another statement later this morning revealing more details on his condition.
EARLIER: TIM Levesque had been in good spirits moments before being critically injured in a fall from a second floor staircase at The Albion Hotel, according to licensee Brendon Cooper.
Counselling has been made available to SS&A Club staff as Mr Levesque’s family sit at his hospital bedside after Tuesday morning’s incident.
He is on life support after landing on his head from an estimated height of about seven metres.
His wife Kym and their four children travelled from Yarrawonga to Albury Hospital after the fall, which occurred about 12.50am.
His extended family had also been travelling to be by his side.
The club had been hosting a Christmas party for 120 staff at the Albion which had started at 7.30pm on Monday.
Mr Levesque had been one of the last people to leave the private function room on the second floor after paying the bill.
He was leaving with another person when he fell from the staircase as a group waited for him at the front of the hotel.
Mr Cooper said it had been a tragic accident.
He said Mr Levesque had only been drinking mid-strength beer and said there was nothing to suggest he was “overly intoxicated”.
“Our thoughts are with the family, the staff and the paramedics involved in this,” he said.
“It's heart-wrenching.
“It's a terrible thing.
“In 24 years this is the first time we've had such a serious thing as this.
"There's no sense or reason why it would happen.”
Mr Cooper said the area was covered by security cameras but was unsure if the fall had been captured.
Police received copies of the footage on Tuesday morning.
There are no suspicious circumstances.
“I imagine that somewhere along the way he’s done something that wasn’t the best thing to do,” Mr Cooper said.
The venue, which has a 24 hour liquor licence, remained open on Tuesday.
Police have taken statements from two staff members.
Albury police licensing supervisor Sergeant Steve McCaig attended the venue on Tuesday morning.
SS&A Club assistant manager Gerard Darmody said he did not want to comment on what had occurred as it was still under investigation.
“Obviously we’re in a bit of shock,” he said.
“The staff have been magnificent.
“They’ve pulled together and we’re just working our way through the situation.”
SS&A bosses held an emotional press conference on Tuesday afternoon and were praying for Mr Levesque.
