A 29-year-old Sydney man taking off-road tracks from Bright to Mt Hotham rode into trouble on Friday.
He had set off about 8.30am and police received a call from his distressed partner at 7pm.
He was about 10 kilometres from his destination and could not go any further, and waited for rescuers.
Leading Senior Constable Bernard Murphy said the man had underestimated the ride.
