Centre Against Violence operations manager Jodi Cooper said the service staff wanted to be more accessible given the royal commissions into institutional abuse and family violence.
“Our referrals have increased because of the two royal commissions and I think there's probably a lot of people out there being affected by what they're seeing in the media that still can't make contact,” she said.
The centre’s 2014-15 annual report showed 329 women received crisis care in the past year through the family violence crisis, support and accommodation service.
In the sexual assault service, 282 women, 102 girls, 55 men and 21 boys sought help, with counselling and crises care services offered in Wangaratta, Wodonga, Benalla, Myrtleford and Mansfield.
