Some familiar figures in red and white visited the Albury Blood Donor Centre on Monday to encourage people to make donating one of their Christmas gifts. Blood service spokeswoman Cathy Chapman said the centre required more than 100 donations between Christmas and New Year to prevent a shortage of blood products.
“A time when many Australians take a break, but the need for blood continues,” she said.
The Albury centre sought more donors for December 17, 18, 19, 23, 24 and 31, January 5 and 7. Appointments can be made on 13 14 95.
One in three Australians will need blood or blood products in their lifetime.
