Terry Hubbard and Mathew Cottee, from team Matez, were left devastated on Thursday when they found their Ford xf panel van trashed in North Albury.
The pair raised about $20,000 with the car since 2012 in the Cystic Fibrosis Australia Great Escape Car Rally.
Mr Cottee said incident would have happened this week at his workplace on Boronia Street, where thieves cut through the fence to gain access.
“I was very upset and really bummed because it is a charity car,” he said.
“We pay for all of this personally - that's where it gets you.
“It was just pointless reckless damage, there was no advantage they would have gained compared to the damage they did.
“I went out at lunch to start the car and make sure it was running normally, I check it every couple weeks.
“I saw broken a window and when I opened the door the glove box was smashed all over the floor.
“All the electrical items from the inside were ripped out, they made a mess.”
The car is covered with stickers and has “Raising funds an awareness for CF” written up side.
It is used every second year for the rally and the men spend most of the time in between fundraising.
Mr Hubbard, whose son Tyson has cystic fibrosis, said damage bill is estimated at about $2000.
“They are just lowlifes, it's pretty obvious what the car is used for,” he said.
“They got under bonnet and damaged battery.
“We build, maintain and run the car out of our own pockets - no fundraising goes toward it.
“It’s pretty disappointing.”
The men are still determined to make it to the 2016 rally in September.
Their progress can be followed on the Raising Funds for Cystic Fibrosis B'Coz it MatTez Facebook page.
