National parks impacted by the Barnawartha bushfires will remain closed over the holiday period while the blaze continued to burn.

Firefighters worked during the week to put containment lines in place to ensure it did not spread wider than the 7066 hectares already burned out.
On Christmas Day it was listed as contained, but not yet under control, and smoke was still visible.
Parks Victoria warned visitors to take extra care as temperatures again soared into the high-30s.
All of the Chiltern section of Chiltern-Mt Pilot National Park, south of the Hume Freeway and east of Honeysuckle Creek Road, remained closed.
Parks Victoria regional services general manager Chris Rose said the fire came during peak time for camping and bushwalking.
“We ask that people stay away from those places and explore other parts of the park or take advantage of the many other opportunities to get out and experience nature throughout Victoria,” Mr Rose said.
