Police are seeking witnesses to Sunday’s incident in which the drug driver sped from officers, drove on the wrong side of the road and sped through red lights.
The chase started on Greta Road about 8.30pm when police tried to intercept a black Toyota.
Leading Senior Constable Gavin Frew said the 24-year-old “took off at a great rate of speed” before police abandoned the chase due to safety fears.
“The driver was located and apprehended about an hour later at a residential address in Wangaratta,” he said.
“He’s facing charges of reckless conduct endangering life, evade police, driving with an illicit drug in his oral fluid and numerous other traffic offences.”
