RACEGOERS with personalities on display at the Dederang Race Club on Saturday are likely to catch the eye of a guest fashion judge.

Farmer Wants a Wife contender Scott Mitchell, of Culcairn, will make up part of the three-person judging panel on the day.
He said his appearance at the Dederang Picnic Races would be his second time at the event.
“I thought I’d have a crack at judging for something different,” Mr Mitchell Said.
“I thought it was an amazing day when I went there last time and there were so many different things you could do.
“They very traditional races and you can bring your own food and drinks.
“I’m really looking forward to it.
“I know a lot about male fashion, female not so much, but I will have the other judges to help me.
“It’s all about new looks and style.
“I’ll be looking for someone who wears an outfit which brings out their personality.”
Gates will open at 10.30am and six races will be run during the day.
Off the track, fashions live music, food and drink vendors will keep the masses entertained.
Kelly Sports will be onsite conducting children’s activities alongside other entertainment for the young ones.
Committee member Amy van de Ven said the event had big benefits for the community.
“It’s all volunteer based and the money made on the day goes toward different groups,” she said.
“The cricket club supplies a lot of the food, Dederang and Towong CFA members run the gate.
“The footy club also does the bar and the netball club has a soft drink stand,
“It’s a real community-run day.”
About 5000 punters are expected to show at the event, which is now in its 151st year.
The weather is expected to be much cooler than previous meets and is predicted to reach a maximum of 34 degrees.
At the conclusion of the horse races, people will once again flock to the track for the Madman’s Mile.
Children, women and men will run a lap of the track in separate categories to claim the winning title.

Miss van de Ven said the community had responded well to this year’s guest judge.
“People are getting a kick out of Scott coming out to judge,” she said.
“It’s exciting, especially for all the eligible bachelorettes out there.
“It takes the whole year to put an event like this together.
“The cooler weather this year will be something for everyone to look forward to.”
