The entertainment, rides and relaxed feel of the event made it the pick for families from across the region.
David Broydell of Wodonga said the celebrations on the Border were the best around for those who were past the years of a wild night on the town.
“I’ve spent the best part of 20 years in Melbourne, and loved it, but now that we’re older and have got the kids, you can’t beat Albury-Wodonga,” he said.
“Especially when they put on events like this, it’s just great.”
His wife Brenda Broydell agreed that their children, Cale, 11, Chiana, 7, had the most fun at Wodonga.
“It is a really good feel, because people aren’t getting drunk and you feel safe for the kids to run around and everyone here is just having a good time.”
Mrs Broydell said the early fireworks were a bonus for families with younger ones.
“They’re long but they’re not too long and they’re usually really spectacular and the kids enjoy it,” she said.
