IN a race that had plenty of ebbs and flows, it was fitting that Chiltern pacer Ebbsandflows was able to get past the post in first place on Thursday night.

Chiltern trainer Peter Romero entered the new year with the lion's share of the $6120 purse in hand after driver Nathan Jack held off Beau Romulus and $2.20 favourite Everyone Knows.
It was as close as you could get to a photo finish, with the $4.70 chance just half a head in front at the finish.
Everyone Knows made a convincing charge toward the front of the field midway through the second lap, but couldn't catch the winner.
“I wasn't very confident until I could see her just edging off towards the line,” Romero said.
“It was an excellent drive. I was thinking we might run out of room, but we just managed to hang on."
It was a rare win for the lightly run brown mare, who last won at Shepparton in January 2015.
Race three also delivered an entertaining upset, with the Paul Brown-trained Pink Ponder denying heavily backed favourite Miss Sixtys in a tight finish.
Paying $5.50 to win, the North Albury pacer held off the favourite and $3.10 starter Miss Zulu.
