Simmonds built on his already sterling reputation as a cricketer by getting the nod as the representative cricketer of the year in the Border Bullets’ winning Regional Bash campaign at the SCG.
The whirlwind season was capped off with Sunday's premiership with the Eagles.
The cherry on top was a premiership for Simmonds’ former club, District side Kiewa.
“Them getting a flag after 10 years means just as much to me as the Belvoir flag does,” Simmonds said.
“Especially after falling short last year, to see the Hawks get over the line was great.
“This was easily the biggest season of my career.
“It was going to be hard to top the win at the SCG, but winning a premiership with the guys you've been with all season is second to none.”
Simmonds said little had changed in his game ahead of the 2015-16 season.
“I think I was feeling a bit more comfortable in my own game,” he said.
