The premier released a statement on Sunday.
“After a brave and painful battle with cancer, my father Bob Andrews passed away this afternoon,” he said.
“On behalf of my family I want to thank the many healthcare professionals who have cared so wonderfully for Bob.
“We are indebted to the staff at Wangaratta, St Vincent’s, The Royal Melbourne and Ambulance Victoria for their love, care and compassion.”
Mr Andrews, 65, was a vocal member of the cattle industry, speaking up for farmers during the 2015 Barnawartha saleyards boycott.
“To friends, colleagues and complete strangers who’ve offered encouragement and support these past 20 months, I’m so grateful,” Daniel Andrews said.
“Bob is gone too soon but leaves many lives enriched by his hard work and generous spirit.”
