With numbers similar to last year, sections 1, 2 and 3 will be played at Albury Grasscourts while sections 4 and 5 are scheduled for hard- courts.
Association president Ken Wurtz said yesterday numbers were steady.
“The numbers are solid,” Wurtz said.
“Hopefully the rain stays away on Saturday and we get under way.”
Thurgoona Cats, Thurgoona Broncos, Forrest Hill Galahs, St Patricks-Diggerville and Wodonga Raiders will compete in section 1 men.
The Cats will be difficult to beat with Dane Motley, Rodney Wurtz, Andy Flores, Evan Marceau and Brenda Foster forming a strong line-up, while Mark Shannahan will lead a formidable St Patricks-Diggerville combination.
Thurgoona Cats take on clubmates Broncos this weekend, and the Broncos will need Hugh O’Brien and Harry Pascoe to steer their side to a first-up win.
The other match sees St Patricks/Diggerville up against Wodonga Raiders, while Forrest Hill Galahs have the bye.
In section 1 ladies, Forrest Hill Magpies, with Alison Tinworth certain to play a leading role, take on Glenly.
In the second match, SPD play Magpies’ club counterparts Tulips.
Eleven teams have entered section 2 men.
Wodonga Bushrangers and Cowboys play host to the Albury Blue and Black teams, Thurgoona Tigers take on Forrest Hill Galahs, Thurgoona Sharks are up against Forrest Hill Diggers, East Albury plays Sacred Heart with SPD White having the bye.
Thurgoona Opals and Jade are against Glenly Gold and Blue respectively in section 2 women while SPD meet Scots Smashes.
