Inspired by other political Lego figures, Wangaratta’s Andrew Shaw sourced pieces from all over the world to create a very close likeness of independent Cathy McGowan.
“The hair, the glasses – it all came together really well,” he said.
As a volunteer for her campaign, Mr Shaw has created the @buildingindi Twitter account and had some fun setting up Lego scenes of her policies.
And he won the approval of Ms McGowan herself.
“She loves it,” Mr Shaw said.
“It’s one of those things that is disarming and you can have a conversation about it.”
His childhood and adult Lego collections were useful in creating the scene, along with other donations.
The robotics engineering course Mr Shaw completed included the professional use of Lego – a respected building tool in the industry.
The @buildingindi account allowed him to explore his more creative side, either using a lighted little photo studio or taking the Ms McGowan figurine out to events such as Wangaratta Farmers Market.
“It’s all about fun,” Mr Shaw said.
