The drugs were taken from a small farming property within the town boundary of Myrtleford on Sunday afternoon.
Leading Sen-Constable Anthony Short declined to go into detail about the crop, but said it had “the potential to earn significant sums of money”.
“It’s an affront to hard-working, honest people that work for a living and pay their taxes,” Sen-Constable Short said.
“Notwithstanding the known destructive ill-effects, health and social, of this stuff.”
Sen-Constable Short said no arrests had been made over the crop with investigations continuing and some people assisting with inquiries.
