It was perhaps the greatest of chances on a whim that led to Freelance picking up $20,000 in winnings in Saturday’s High Rollers Tournament.

One of TopBetta’s veteran players proved exactly why you should keep an eye on the other tournaments around you, not merely focused on the one you have entered.
We asked Freelance how the hell he managed to clean up and take home $20,000 within the space of 45 minutes, after entering the High Rollers Tournament at 4.09pm on Saturday and hitting the top within two bets at 4.55pm when the game finished.
“Saturday was a great day. I wasn't originally planning to play the TopBetta High Rollers Tournament because the buy in at $2200 was well outside my comfort zone and the Winner-Takes-All prize setup can be very unforgiving if you run a close second place.
I was very keen on the new Skins Tournament and was following that fairly closely, but I was also keeping an eye on the High Rollers Tournament, even though it was more out of curiosity than anything else.

It was getting fairly late in the day and I was patiently waiting for Lord Von Costa running at Flemington in race 8.
I was red hot confident about it and was going to shove my whole stack on it to TO WIN in in the Skins.
Competition in the Skins was very strong though and as I flicked over the other tournaments it seemed like the High Rollers were really struggling to hit anything decent ...
Before I had time to really talk myself out of such a big buy-in, I'd jumped into the High Rollers Tournament and shoved my whole stack on Lord Von Costa TO PLACE.
I thought I might get a pay of $1.80 or $1.90, but sure enough, there was a betting plunge and it won and it only paid 1.40 for the place.
Lucky for me the High Rollers kept missing and that pay out was still enough to put me into 1st place with two races to go.
Coming into the last race Flemington #9 I knew the back-markers were going to come hard at me and I would need to bet.
I didn't have a strong opinion, but it was looking like a two-horse race between Telopea and A Lotta Love.
I must have changed my mind three times before deciding to lump most of my stack on A Lotta Love.
When Telopea barreled down the straight for a solid win, I was devastated!
That devastation then turned to complete disbelief when I realised that nobody else had backed Telopea either.
The other High Rollers ALL MISSED and so my left over BettaBucks had somehow kept me in 1st Place and cleared me a very sweet $20K prize!
So, yes, I was very lucky, but that's the way it rolls on TopBetta.
Sometimes you just have to jump in, back yourself and luck can give you the big pay off when you least expect it.
I never thought I'd ever make $20,000 in a day, let alone in 45 minutes.
Maybe I am a High Roller after all and I just didn't know it! See you again next Saturday.”
So there you go, this is how TopBetta rolls.
