The Civil Aviation Safety Authority stages free safety workshops in Albury each year to update pilots in the area.
“It’s important we are kept up to date with new and important information,” Mr Ziems said.
The workshop concentrated on safety culture and landing at non-tower airports.
“In Albury, pilots have a tower but in towns where there is none it can be quite tricky getting in and out of the airport,” Mr Ziems said.
“There’s lots of things pilots need to consider like etiquette and communication.”
Civil Aviation Safety Authority’s Tim Penny, who ran the night, said the turnout was pleasing.
“We had pilots who flew in from as far as Bright, Holbrook, Wangaratta and Porepunkah,” he said.
“Giving pilots from Albury and surrounding areas extra training will lift their safety skills to even higher levels.
“All pilots received comprehensive training but this workshop means they will be even better equipped to fly safely and deal with the emergencies.”
