Now, they will make a difference for others in his honour.
Mr Parker died on March 10 after sustaining burns to almost 70 per cent of his body when fuel ignited as he refilled a generator on his property in Chiltern.
On Sunday, his brother Ken Parker, Ken’s daughter, Katherine, and niece Amanda, will raise money for the burns unit at Alfred Hospital, where Trevor was cared for over 49 days.
“My daughter and son-in-law gave me entry to Run Melbourne for my birthday back in February, a couple weeks before Trevor passed away,” Mr Parker said.
“Each person chooses a charity to fundraise for, so when we saw the Alfred Hospital was one of those we decided to donate to them.
“They provided quality care to Trevor and a lot of support for his immediate family …. ultimately the burns were such they couldn’t do any more.
“I’ve got no doubt the run will be quite emotional and I know we’ll have some family and friends, and his wife, Bernadette, who will be there cheering us on.”
Mr Parker said their fundraising efforts had taken off, due to Trevor’s many connections across the North East as Corcoran Parker director and former president of the Albury Wodonga Stock Agents Association.
“The initial target was $1000 but it's kept creeping up since then – we are up to $6600 at the moment,” he said.
“People who knew Trevor through the livestock industry donated quite early in the piece.
“Seeing the people who supported us has been emotional, but it also means I’ve got no choice but to do it.”
Mr Parker said knowing the money would help other families provided some comfort during what was still very much a difficult time for his.
“It’s six months since the accident happened, so sometimes you don’t think about it,” he said.
“Other times, you’re going along alright and something gets you.
“I’ve got no doubt my parents are both still finding it really difficult.
“We certainly won’t forget him.”
