The camping shop, near West End Plaza in Kiewa Street, has been trading in Albury since 2005.
A spokeswoman for Ray's Outdoors owner, the Super Retail Group, Ilse Schache, said it was decided the Border market was already well-catered for the goods sold at the store.
So it would invest further in its sister chain outlet, BCF at East Albury's Harvey Norman Centre, by expanding the stock at the boating, camping and fishing store with a move into apparel.
Ms Schache said it was planned to redeploy all staff to either BCF or Rebel Sport and Super Cheap Auto, which are also owned by the company.
She declined to say how many staff worked at the leased Kiewa Street premises, but it employed 12 when it opened.
The shutdown is part of a series of closures across Australia with the Super Retail Group in May flagging a new direction for Ray's Outdoors shops which had been losing millions.
The remaining stores will be rebranded RAYS and compete against fellow outdoors company Kathmandu in adventure travel.
Ray's Outdoors began in Geelong under the direction of Ray Frost, who sold it to the Super Retail Group in 2010 for $54 million.
At the time the Albury store opened, Mr Frost said the Border had great potential for growth with its proximity to the Murray River and Lake Hume.
“Our products, service and dedication to the leisure lifestyle of active Australians is reflected by the success of our stores, and we will maintain those standards to ensure our new customers in this region have that positive shopping experience at Ray's Outdoors in Albury,” he said.
