Cigarette the cause of much bigger tree fire
All it took was a stray cigarette to start a fire in a tree which had to be knocked down on Wednesday.

The large, dead tree was discovered alight near a walking track in Bonegilla about 10am, leading firefighters to make the call to bring it down.
CFA district 24 duty officer Brett Myers said an excavator was brought in for the job because even if the fire was put out, he did not want to risk it falling on the track at a later date.
“We’ve just got to look at safety, it had to come down,” he said.
