All the planets seemed to align with Kiewa-Sandy Creek and I’m really looking forward to it
- Adam Mudra
After spending the past four seasons as an assistant with the Murray Bushrangers, the 38-year-old has followed Wangaratta Rovers-bound Ross Hill’s lead by entering senior coaching ranks for the first time.
Mudra will coach the Hawks for the next two years.
“I got a phone call from Kiewa and it went from there,” Mudra said.
“I guess I’m at that point in the coaching journey where I could have continued on the junior development pathway or went out and coached in my own right.
“That was the fork in the road I suppose.
“All the planets seemed to align with Kiewa-Sandy Creek and I’m really looking forward to it.”
Mudra will take over from Callum Turner who took the Hawks to this year’s elimination final and last season’s grand final.
Turner is set to remain with the club as a player.
Mudra has previously coached the Ovens and Murray’s under-18 representative side as well Wodonga’s reserve and third grade teams.
He played senior football for the Bulldogs and spent time as a player with the Murray Bushrangers.
Kiewa-Sandy Creek president Malcolm Wallace said Mudra’s experience made him a perfect fit.
“I’m sure he will be a really good addition to our club,” Wallace said.
“He’s got a lot of coaching experience particularly with younger blokes and that was one thing that really stood out to us.
“He wants to develop players which is fantastic.”
Wallace is optimistic about keeping the bulk of the club’s list together for next season.
