A year after going down to the Tigers in the decider, the Panthers earned a rematch with a 12-point victory over Yarrawonga in the preliminary final.
Albury moved through the season undefeated and is gunning for its sixth flag in eight years but Saker said “upsets happen”.
The Panthers have lost all three encounters against the Tigers this season – by 83, 29 and 28 points.
Saker said before a round one belting by Albury that the Tigers had areas Lavington could exploit and while that didn’t prove to be the case on Good Friday, the Panthers coach has lost none of his belief in his side.
“It’s David and Goliath, there’s no two ways about that, we’re taking on the best team in country footy,” Saker said.
“The big guys have got a few chinks, it’s just going to be up to us to expose them.
“It’s going to be difficult but there’s confidence that we’ve taken from our last hit-out that we can find a few weaknesses and try and exploit them. We’re coming up against a raging hot favourite but upsets happen.
“We haven’t been the best team all year, there’s no doubting that, but we can be the best team on one day.”
