In a battle of the veterans, Gilson and Mulquiney finished on 23 votes, six clear of Wodonga Raider Jack Haugen.
I wasn’t even going to play this year to be honest so it’s a big surprise
- Clinton Gilson
It’s the second time Mulquiney has won the award after he tied with North Albury’s Ash Sibraa in 2013.
Gilson and Mulquiney polled in 10 rounds.
“I wasn’t even going to play this year to be honest so it’s a big surprise,” Gilson said.
“It was just good to get a few kicks.
“I really enjoyed being back at North Albury.
“It’s a great club.”
Gilson was a joint winner of the Hume league’s Azzi medal in 2004.
Albury ruckman Ben Dower finished fifth on 15 votes and would have been hard to hold off if he hadn’t played nine senior matches.
