HANDEL’S Water Music would have been an apt accompaniment when Kathryn Pyle arrived at her Wodonga business on Wednesday.

The Musikids manager was faced with rising water from Byrne Lagoon on the northern side of Gateway Village.
Neighbouring La Maison cafe owner Wassim Saliba alerted the SES and a team of volunteers went to work filling hundreds of sandbags.
Ms Pyle, whose parents Heather and Tom Pyle travelled from Berrigan to assist, was buoyed by the help.
“It’s huge – there’s lots of Musi families and old Musi families that have come and helped and friends of Gateway Village,” Ms Pyle said.
Mr Saliba has had a pump forcing water from his pantry cellar, which would otherwise be drowned.
When a cardamon seed lodged in the pump and stopped it for 10 minutes there was a 7.6-centimetre rise in water.
“The council and SES are trying to keep us dry which is great,” he said.
“We would be under water if all that work hadn’t been done.”
