Young students from Regional Academy of Performing Arts (RAPA) performed with Imperial Russian Ballet dancers for one show only on Tuesday night.
RAPA students were cast as angels, jesters and mice among myriad characters in the lively ballet.
In this version of The Nutcracker mysterious toy maker (Herr Drosselmayer) propels the story with grace and good humour.

The Russian dancers have performed with children from local ballet schools in each of their performances in a tour that ends in Auckland on December 3.
The Imperial Russian Ballet will present A Festival of Russian Ballet during its Australian tour in 2017. Tickets go on sale in December.
