Life Saving Victoria (LSV) has been putting participants through their paces in first aid and aquatic safety as part of a course that is the first of its kind for inland waterways.
Andy Dennis, general manager of public training and pool safety, said the training would ensure staff had the correct skills and knowledge to supervise facility users in Lake Mulwala.
In addition, it provided the necessary rescue and first aid techniques to attend to emergency situations.
The course is a key component of the ‘Respect the River’ campaign which aims to reduce drowning deaths at Australia’s inland waterway locations, according to Mr Dennis.
The 50sq m aquatic adventure park, known as Aquazone@LakeMulwala, will comprise waterslides, trampolines and obstacle courses.
Managing director Deb North said the business would employ up to 40 staff during peak times.
