A integrative healthcare seminar and expo, Mindd Talks Albury will explore the link between gut and mind health on Sunday.
With ADHD affecting 10 per cent of Australian children, allergies 30 per cent, asthma 25 per cent and autism about 1 per cent, the Mindd Foundation event will address the link between the brain and digestive tract.
Among the speakers will be Therese Kerr who is an advocate for the use of chemical-free products, Bubba Yum Yum’s Charlotte Carr and integrated GP Dr Frank Golik, who specialises in childhood health.
Organiser Kinta Gitsham said most people knew someone who had struggled with depression, anxiety, allergies, ADHD, autism, auto-immune disease, irritable bowel syndrome, asthma or chronic fatigue syndrome.
She said the seminar would uncover the role of the gut in major health conditions.
“Gut health holds the answers to so much of what is going on within your body,” she said.
Having suffered from Postnatal Depression during the past decade, Ms Gitsham said she only gained answers through an integrative health plan.
Her eldest son Archie was diagnosed with ADHD, anxiety and being on the Autism Spectrum.
”Through looking into our gut health, having blood tests to see what our vital minerals and vitamins were doing, we found out so many answers,” Ms Gitsham said.
“By addressing our gut health and our parasite issues and by supplementing our very depleted bodies with vital vitamins like D, B6 and B12 and minerals such as magnesium, iron and zinc, we are starting to see massive results.
“I am so so passionate about spreading this news, news of hope and awareness that there is another way other than popping many pills to treat the many symptoms.”
Sydney-based naturopath Helen Padarin will speak in Albury on addressing depression and anxiety through addressing gut health.
Therese Kerr and Alice Nicholls will talk about reducing the chemical burden around the home and suggest healthier alternatives.
Ms Padarin and Ms Carr will run cooking demonstrations on fermented foods, broth, kefir, and gut healing yoghurt.
They will also present ideas for children’s lunch boxes and parties.
Mindd Talks Albury will be held at The Commercial Club.
