Victorian officers caught the 54-year-old in Melbourne on Wednesday after the incident at the BWS in Sanger Street on Saturday.
The man is alleged to have walked into the bottle shop about 6.20pm and approached a staff member from behind, demanding cash.
Albury Detective Chief Inspector David Cottee said police had received information after CCTV images were published.
“A number of people came forward and assisted us to further our investigations,” he said.
“Victoria Police assisted us (on Tuesday) by arresting a man from Rutherglen while attending the Melbourne area. We're undertaking extradition processes to have him brought before court in NSW.”
