With Albury-Wodonga home to a multitude of different codes, it can be daunting trying to pick just one.
But that’s the beauty of Ready Steady Go Kids – you can try them all.
Ready Steady Go Kids is designed to introduce children aged from two-and-a-half to six years old the fundamentals of 10 different sports – soccer, tennis, basketball, hockey, golf, Australian Rules, rugby, athletics, cricket and T-ball.
When it comes to getting kids involved in sport and fitness, you might expect parents to be doing all the encouragement but that certainly wasn’t the case for new Ready Steady Go Kids franchiseeJanice Mardling.
After recently introducing her two young children to the Ready Steady Go Kids program, Mrs Mardling quickly realised how happy and confident the kids had become in such a short period of time.
“Since day one, the kids were hooked on Ready Steady Go Kids. They love going to class each week and seeing their friends,” she said.
“They really enjoy the gross motor games, and with such a wide variety of sports on offer, they never get bored.”
Seeing how much her kids enjoyed, and benefited from, the classes, Mrs Mardling quickly sought the opportunity to become a franchisee herself.
“Ready Steady Go Kids is so beneficial for young children,” she said.
“With 10 different sports on offer, kids can not only learn arange of essential gross and fine motor skills, but they’ll also start to get a feel for what kinds of sports they like.
“Plus, there’s the added element of having fun while keeping fit.”
Ready Steady Go Kids classes are physio-designed for young children and allows them to develop age-appropriate skills like sportsmanship and teamwork.
But what makes this children’s fitness program so unique is that it helps promote a life-long passion for sports and exercise.
Each term, five sports are taught in two-week blocks, which is considered sufficient time to introduce and reinforce the basic concepts and motor patterns.
All classes are held indoors, meaning rain, hail or shine, your child’s session will never be cancelled due to bad weather.
By rotating the sports every two weeks, Mrs Mardling said it decreased the likelihood of children becoming disinterested in a particular activity.
All equipment used in the Ready Steady Go Kids program has been specifically designed and modified to ensure age appropriateness, reliability and safety.
“It’s a pleasure to have Janice on board,” Ready Steady Go Kids director, Danie O’Connor said.
“With two young kids of her own who have tried and tested the program, Janice knows just how much children can benefit from these classes, and how fun kids’ fitness can be.”
Classes have started at the PCYC in Albury and the Masonic Centre in Wodonga but Mrs Mardling has plans to open more locations in Wangaratta and Wagga next year.
Each class runs for 45 minutes with a maximum of 12 children in each session. With at least two instructors taking charge of each lesson, your child can be guaranteed plenty of attention.
Term four classes in Albury run on Monday from 9.45-11.15am, Tuesday from 9.45am-noon, Thursday from 9.30-10.15am and Saturday from 9am-noon. Classes in Wodonga are held on Wednesday and Friday from 9.30-10.15am.
