With the league having a general bye due to the AFLVC and VAFA clash, the Bulldogs applied to host a match.
“We would have dug in about the Easter weekend if we knew we were going to miss the stand-alone against Raiders,” Harding said.
“To not get an Easter match or the stand-alone is disappointing.”
Ovens and Murray general manager Sean Barrett said the board didn’t want to run into problems later in the season.
“The league felt it wasn’t appropriate as it puts us in a compromising position if a club was to have two or three players who were representing Victoria Country,” Barrett said.
“It could potentially cause some dramas for one of those clubs.”
The league has changed the order of its matches in the second-half of the season to accommodate as many requests from clubs as possible.
