The former boxer and Rabbitohs player, suicide survivor and proud Wiradjuri man has been nominated for the inaugural Australian Mental Health Prize.
The seven finalists have been recognised for their work in the fields of youth mental health, suicide prevention and mental health nursing and Mr Williams said it was an honour to be included.
“It’s a great honour, especially knowing the people who I have been nominated against and then named as a finalist,” he said.
“It is great to be recognised but would be better if I didn’t have to do it – that would mean there is zero suicides.”
Mr Williams is currently travelling the United States with The Enemy Within to share his story and assist with suicide prevention.
The winner will be announced during a formal ceremony at the University of New South Wales on December 7.
