Edward Staughton was named the 2016 Young Entrepreneur of the year by the NSW Business Chamber in Sydney on Friday evening.
He is managing director of a Howlong business Cool Off, Australia’s primary supplier of pet food raw material to major food pet processors around the world.
The award recognises a young person aged 18 to 35 who has built a successful business.
Mr Staughton has increased Cool Off’s total business turnover from $5 million to $40 million.
“It’s extremely exciting to win the award. It’s an industry that’s not always glamorous but we’ve got some amazing opportunities to grow and build Australian quality products overseas.”
Murray-Riverina NSW Business Chamber regional manager Ben Foley said that while the region did not have any other state category winners, “it was evident that all had a fantastic evening and they should all be proud of having made it this far”.
